Jodi Brown, Lieutenant, Vallejo Police Department

Jodi Brown

Lt. Brown has been employed as a sworn police officer by the Vallejo Police Department since 2013. She graduated from the Sacramento Police Academy in Sacramento, California, in 2007. From 2007 to 2012, Lt. Brown served as a patrol officer with the Sacramento Police Department. In 2013, she lateraled to the Vallejo Police Department, where she continued her duties as a patrol officer. 
 
In 2014, Lt. Brown was assigned to the canine unit, a role she held until 2021. She was then promoted to sergeant and worked as a patrol sergeant for 2 ½ years. Following this, she served as the Internal Affairs sergeant for one year. 
In 2024, she was promoted to lieutenant and is currently assigned as the watch commander for Squad 4.
 
Lt. Brown earned a Bachelor of Applied Science from American Military University in 2012. She then obtained a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from the same institution in 2015. In 2024, she furthered her education by earning a Graduate Certificate in Executive Law Enforcement Leadership from American Military University.
 
Throughout her career, Lt. Brown has held various assignments. She served as a Patrol Officer from 2007 to 2014, a canine handler from 2014 to 2021, and a patrol sergeant in 2021. She was appointed the Internal Affairs sergeant in 2022 and served again as a patrol sergeant in 2023. 
 
In addition to her primary duties, Lt. Brown has taken on several ancillary roles, including serving as a member of the Vallejo Police Department Honor Guard, a recruiter, the Mobile Field Force team leader, the canine coordinator, and the commander of the Hostage Negotiator Team. Her exemplary service has been recognized with major awards and decorations, including the Medal of Merit and the Good Conduct Medal.
