Bob Knight, Deputy Chief, Vallejo Police Department
Deputy Chief Bob Knight is a City of Vallejo native who is deeply grateful and humbled for the opportunity to serve in the community he grew up in. Knight attended Vallejo schools and graduated from St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School.
Deputy Chief Knight began his career at the Vallejo Police Department as a Police Explorer in 1991 at the age of 14 and was the first Vallejo PD Cadet hired in 1995 when the program was created. In 1999, Bob graduated from the police academy and became a full-time police officer and worked a variety of assignments during his time as an officer. He worked assignments in Patrol, Crime Suppression Unit, Asset Forfeiture, and is a federally deputized DEA task force officer.
Deputy Chief Knight was promoted to the rank of Corporal in 2013 and was assigned back to Patrol as a Field Training Officer (FTO). In 2014, he was promoted to Sergeant and worked assignments in Patrol, Crime Reduction Team supervisor, and Internal Affairs in that rank. During his career, Deputy Chief Knight has also participated in collateral assignments to include Honor Guard, SWAT, Explorer Post advisor, VPD recruitment team, and Vallejo PAL Board of Directors. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sacramento State University in Sociology and is a graduate of the California POST Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute.
