Dennis Yen
Dennis Yen was raised in Vallejo and attended Vallejo public schools from elementary school through his graduation from Vallejo High School. He earned an AA/Liberal Arts Degree (Vallejo Community College), along with B.A. and M.A. Degrees in Speech and Communication Theory (San Francisco State College.) A product of a single parent family, Dennis initially worked in the family restaurant business alongside his Mother and brother. He was married and has two children.
He has worked as an Assistant Professor of Speech at the University of Alaska (Fairbanks) and was a Training Specialist with United Air Lines (Chicago). He subsequently worked as a Solano County Social Services Worker and Deputy Probation Officer, finally retiring as a State Parole Agent with the California State Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He is currently an actor based in the San Francisco Bay area, having performed throughout the United States and Europe.
Active in the community with organizations such as the Vallejo Suburban Kiwanis Club, Vallejo Kids on Course and presently the Vallejo Police Chief’s Citizen Advisory Board, Dennis also served a term on the Solano Community College Governing Board representing Vallejo as a Trustee and eventually Board President. He was appointed to the Solano County Fair Association, serving initially as a Director and later as Board President. He is currently President of the Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce of Solano County.
