Karen Taylor

I am Karen Taylor, a long-time Vallejo community activist dedicated to making Vallejo a safer and better place to live. As a passionate resident, my love for this city drives my extensive volunteer work and commitment to positive change.

Throughout my years of service, I have been honored with significant recognition for my contributions. I was proud to be named Vallejo’s first Woman of the Year for Solano County and Volunteer of the Year, earning a Congressional Award. Additionally, I received the Individual Community Volunteer of the Year Award from the Mayor, a Certificate of Recognition from Assembly District 14, and Senate recognition for my volunteer efforts in Vallejo. My advocacy in the fight against HIV/AIDS since 2009 has earned me further accolades, including Congressional Recognition for “A Heart for Vallejo” and a Certificate of Excellence from Solano County District 1 for my work with the “Break the Silence” campaign. My exceptional community involvement was also acknowledged with a certificate from the Fighting Back Partnership.
My commitment to the community extends through my volunteer efforts. Serving as Volunteer Ms. Santa for the Solano AIDS Coalition, I provided toys to over 450 children from families affected by HIV/AIDS. I also supported and sold cookbooks with Fred Menard and Indian Alley Antiques to raise funds for downtown lighting in Vallejo, successfully brightening the area. Additionally, I received a Certificate of Appreciation for my efforts in conserving North America's natural wetlands habitat. One of my proudest moments was organizing Vallejo's first Block Party for Peace, bringing together 500 attendees in a peaceful gathering without the need for police support.
Beyond my community work, I am a long-time rescuer and supporter of animal rescue organizations, I was made Community Leader of Vallejo in 2017. My efforts consistently demonstrate my dedication to Vallejo, my ability to inspire unity, and my commitment to making a positive impact. I am deeply passionate about this city and will continue to work tirelessly to show my love for Vallejo.
